Originally from Montreal, after working for some time in the banking industry, Betsy decided to pursue her life-long passion  for design and colour.

Following completion of the Fine Arts Certificate program in 2010 at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, she began to develop her unique contemporary expressionistic painting style. Based in her Cobourg studio since 2011, she specializes in highly original textured work in acrylic on canvas and wood.

Using a limited but vibrant colour palette, paint is mixed and applied  on the canvas using large palette knives, allowing the piece to take form via a variety of  scraping and reapplying techniques. Sometimes acrylic paint is also dripped on the canvas.

No plan is made or reference is used. Betsy’s work continues to evolve in exciting new directions.

Betsy ‘s work has been accepted into many juried gallery shows, and she contributes artwork regularly to local charities.
